Insulation FAQs

Is this attic insulation safe for people?

Yes, this natural fiber insulation is safe for use around humans and pets.

Is this fiber insulation safe for the environment?

Yes, we treat all our insulation with boric acid and other proprietary formulations that produce insulation that is completely environmentally friendly.

Will the insulation help with bugs?

This insulation does have pest-controlling properties and is deadly to cockroaches, silverfish, ants, termites, and many other crawling insects.

What else will the insulation help with?

Pest-control attic insulation is fire retardant, thermally superior, and sound-deadening.

Where can the insulation be used?

To help with pests, be sure to cap existing insulation in attics or install it in walls and crawlspaces even in new construction.

What does thermally superior mean?

This natural cellulose and natural borate pesticide insulation keeps the interior temperature of your home completely unfazed by the temperature outside. Because of this, it will quickly reduce energy costs and save you money.

How do I remove my rodent-infested insulation?

You don’t. Hire us to completely remove, clean up, and sanitize any animal and rodent dropping and pathogens that the droppings bring along.

How do I know if my attic is under-insulated?

You need to know your R-Value. The Department of Energy recommends an R-49 for the Northeast.

What is R-Value?

This value is the measure of resistance to heat transfer. The higher the R-Value, the better the resistance to heat transfer.

How do I figure out my R-Value?

Measure the amount of fiberglass insulation in your attic (overall thickness) and multiply it by 3. Example: 10″  x 3= R-30 or 12″x3= R-36.

Does this insulation have a good R-Value?

Our insulation R-Value is much higher than fiberglass.
